BBC Audiobooks has commissioned two exclusive Sarah Jane Adventures stories for release in November.
The Glittering Storm and The Thirteenth Stone will be read by Elisabeth Sladen. This is the first time that BBC Audiobooks have commissioned new content for exclusive release on audio.
The Glittering Storm
When patients at a London clinic begin to act strangely, Sarah Jane's suspicions are aroused. Luke falls prey to the clinic's sinister agenda, Maria and Clyde are pursued through London by a golden battle machine, and Sarah discovers a plot to harvest all the gold from Earth - at a terrible cost to the planet!
Written by Steve Cole, author of many Doctor Who novels. "My first memories of Doctor Who are of poor Sarah stuck in a ventilator shaft back in 1975," said Steven, "so I jumped at the chance to write a story for Lis Sladen. She is a fantastic actor with a wonderful voice, and Sarah Jane is a marvellous character.
"With The Glittering Storm I aimed to provide a story with creepy scares - as well as humour and thrills - in the vein of the new TV series. The idea is that we on Earth are not the only people who prize gold highly... Others in space have a fascination for the stuff too, and are rather more menacing in the way that they use it..."
The Thirteenth Stone
The Thirteenth Stone is written Justin Richards, editor of the Doctor Who novels range.
Whilst helping out on a school trip, Sarah Jane discovers the truth behind the legend of an ancient stone circle. Something is trying to escape from one of the stones – and it's chosen Luke as the way out! Can Sarah, Clyde and Maria save him?
"I had enormous fun writing The Thirteenth Stone," he said. "It's always slightly daunting writing a story that is going to be read aloud - you really have to be at your best. But knowing that Elisabeth Sladen – Sarah Jane Smith herself – was going to be reading it was a tremendous boost to the confidence as well as a huge privilege. I can't wait to hear the finished result!"
The two stories will be available on CD and for download from the 5th November at £5.99 each.

It will drive the rest of the family to distraction within minutes of being unwrapped, but a new Dalek mask made of flesh-pink ribbed plastic will be one of the must-have toys this Christmas, retailers predicted yesterday. The mask, modelled on a one-eyed Dalek-human hybrid which appeared in the episode Daleks in Manhattan, changes the voice of the wearer to the metallic scream of the doctor's mortal enemies. Games based on films and TV characters will fill Santa's sack this year, according to toy manufacturers who made their annual prediction of Christmas best-sellers yesterday.

Taken from the Rhondda Leader's website
A FILM crew in the Rhondda had the Leader’s phones ringing off the hook last week.
Readers were eager to find out who was filming – and what!
Well, we can confirm it was none other than the BBC filming Dr Who spin-off Torchwood. Filming took place in the Rhondda last Wednesday and Thursday and keen-eyed viewers will be able to spot The Oval in Treorchy and the Phoenix Cinema in Ton Pentre, when Series Two of the sci-fi drama airs early next year.
One lucky fan even managed to get a behind-the-scene tour when the film crew pitched up at the Phoenix on Wednesday.
Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Bodringallt pupil Ben Mumford, aged nine, of the Parade, Ton Pentre, was invited behind the scenes and spent the day on-set with the crew and actors.
Dad Derek, who helps out at the Phoenix, said: “His highlight of the day was meeting John Barrowman, who plays Captain Jack. He is really a great guy and spent time between scenes chatting with Ben.
“Ben was thrilled – he’s a big fan.”

TAKEN FROM THE BBC SITE
Covers for the Spring 2008 stand-alone Doctor Who novels have just been released by BBC Books.
As previously announced, all three will feature the Tenth Doctor and Martha.
Martha in the Mirror - by Justin Richards
Castle Extremis - whoever holds it can control the provinces either side that have been at war for centuries. Now the castle is about to play host to the signing of a peace treaty. But as the Doctor and Martha find out, not everyone wants the war to end.
Who is the strange little girl who haunts the castle? What is the secret of the book the Doctor finds, its pages made from thin, brittle glass? Who is the hooded figure that watches from the shadows? And what is the secret of the legendary Mortal Mirror?
The Doctor and Martha don't have long to find the answers - an army is on the march, and the castle will soon be under siege once more.
Snowglobe 7 - by Mike Tucker
Earth, 2099. Global warming is devastating the climate. The polar ice caps are melting.
In a desperate attempt at preservation the Governments of the world have removed vast sections of the Arctic and Antarctic and set them inside huge domes across the world. The Doctor and Martha arrive in Snowglobe 7 in the Middle East, hoping for peace and relaxation. But they soon discover that it's not only ice and snow that has been preserved beneath the Dome.
While Martha struggles to help with an infection sweeping through the holidaymakers the Doctor discovers an alien threat that has lain hidden since the last ice age. A threat that is starting to thaw.
The Many Hands - by Dale Smith
Edinburgh, 1759.
The Nor' Loch is being filled in. If you ask the soldiers there, they'll tell you it's a stinking cesspool that the city can do without. But that doesn't explain why the workers won't go near the place without an armed guard.
That doesn't explain why they whisper stories about the loch giving up its dead, about the minister who walked into his church twelve years after he died.
It doesn't explain why, as they work, they whisper about a man called the Doctor. And about the many hands of Alexander Monro.
All three novels will be published on 1 May 2008.
