This month sees the release of the latest Dark Shadows Dramatic Reading. Curse of the Pharaoh is an all-new drama starring Nancy Barrett and Marie Wallace. Both actors have made cameo appearances in the full-cast Dark Shadows audio dramas and now take the lead for this new story. Nancy reprises her classic role as Carolyn Stoddard, while Marie tackles an intriguing new character. Famed Egyptologist Dr Gretchen Warwick has come to Collinwood, searching for the answers to life in the hereafter. At first, Carolyn cannot understand why Warwick needs her help, but, to her horror, she soon discovers that she is the key to the dark, dangerous world on the other side of death... ?Gretchen Warwick is a mystery,? says writer Stephen Mark Rainey. ?She?s brilliant and eccentric ? not to mention abrasive. As a woman accustomed to being in a position of authority, she?s just the kind to raise Carolyn?s hackles!? Marie Wallace is full of enthusiasm for her new character, Gretchen: ?When I re ...

Fifth Doctor and Companions Reunited!

July 2010 brings another season of three stories for the Fifth Doctor, this time reuniting members of the TV cast for the first time in 26 years. ?Janet Fielding will be back as Tegan Jovanka,? says Nick Briggs, ?for three stories that include Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Sarah Sutton as Nyssa and Mark Strickson as Vislor Turlough. Getting these actors together in one studio is a first for us - Janet has only done one play with us before, while Mark now lives in New Zealand. But they?ve all committed to the project and we couldn?t be more excited!? ?The idea first came about when we were recording a Companion Chronicle with Mark earlier in the year,? adds producer David Richardson. ?He and I were chatting in the green room, and he mentioned the fact that he?d be willing to fly back again from New Zealand to record a season of stories. And wouldn?t it be nice, if Janet was willing too, to get the whole team back together? ?I rang Nick and script editor Alan Barnes, and both thou ...

Following on from last month?s announcement that Nazi scientist Elizabeth Klein (Tracey Childs) will be joining the Seventh Doctor for a season of three audio stories, Big Finish has released more news concerning its output in 2010. ?We?re trying something a little different next year,? announces executive producer Nicholas Briggs, ?with some surprising combinations of Doctors and companions. So it?s with great pleasure that I can announce that Frazer Hines will be reprising the role of Jamie McCrimmon, joining the Sixth Doctor for four brand new adventures.? Three of these stories will comprise a season of full-cast plays, to be released between April and June. The fourth will be a tie-in Companion Chronicle story, which will be released in May, and will be performed by Hines alongside an as yet unnamed guest star. Hines, of course, accompanied the Second Doctor in his travels on TV between 1966-1969, and returned alongside the Second and Sixth Doctors in The Two Doctors (1984). ...

Thank You! Stargate, Dark Shadows and Doctor Who conventions
from Big Finish News RSS
(2009/8/25 8:10)
|
It's been a tiring but stunning fortnight of convention-going. The two Pauls (Spragg and Wilson) enjoyed a day at Fantom Films' Sixth Sense event, with Colin Baker, India Fisher and Maggie Stables, amongst others, on fine form, while Jason headed off to New York for the yearly Dark Shadows festival. Heading for Chicago, he then teamed up with Mr Spragg for Creation's Stargate event, at which they took to the stage for 30 minutes to discuss the audio adventures of Stargate (and a bit of Doctor Who too). We've met fans old and new, had a great time, and been made exceedingly welcome at all of the events, so an enormous thanks to everyone who bought from us, listened to us or who has just dropped by to check out the website and learn more about what we do. Hi! Welcome! Do please check out our assorted ranges, visit the forums and join in with the discussions! All are welcome.

Now, Big Finish are proud to announce that November 2009 will see the publication of Rob's second collection of short stories, Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical . His first collection, Tiny Deaths , won a World Fantasy Award. Here's what new Doctor Who executive producer and head writer Steven Moffat has to say of Rob's latest short story collection: 'Shearman offers us haunting, nightmare alternatives to our world that are still somehow utterly recognisable, thank to the way he always picks out the comically mundane among the impossible and the fantastical. He makes each story cling to you, forces you to make sense of it and somehow inhabit it.' In this free podcast, Rob ...

Can it really be the end for Charlotte Pollard? Charley started her long journey with the audio adventures of Doctor Who in the year 2000, with the Eighth Doctor... Well, actually, that's when actress India Fisher started her journey with Big Finish working alongside Paul McGann. For the last two years, she's been time-space travelling with Colin Baker, the Sixth Doctor. Somehow, Charley's been keeping the truth about herself from him... but truth will out, and in this year's three Sixth Doctor stories, Patient Zero , Paper Cuts and Blue Forgotten Planet there's big trouble in store for the redoubtable Miss Pollard. Attempting and failing to calm the usual chaos of a Big Finish Podcast, India Fisher pops in for tea, a chat, a quiz and some great clips. We are forever in her debt and love her truly, madly and deeply. Hit that podcast button now or press the play button in the RSS FEEDS box to stream the audio. The choice is yours... And remember... It's freeeeeeeee!

July Releases
from Big Finish News RSS
(2009/7/29 8:24)
|
July releases Doctor Who: The Company of Friends , Doctor Who: The Scapegoat , The Companion Chronicles: The Drowned World , Stargate: Pathogen and Dark Shadows: Echoes of Insanity have now been mailed out to subscribers, with downloads either currently available or scheduled to go live by week's end. Apologies for them running later than usual; the Sales team has been working at full tilt to fill Summer Sale, Short Trips , Big Finish for a Fiver and DWM orders, which has barely left any time for the regular releases. Due to mastering problems at a very late stage, Benny 10.2 ( Absence ) and Highlander 1.4 ( Kurgan Rising ) are, in the former case somewhat ironically, running slightly late; the problems have now been fixed, and the moment the CDs are pressed up they'll be sent out, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Again, our apologies for the delay, but trust us, they're both worth a bit of extra anticipation!
