Trevor Martin is The Doctor  from Big Finish News RSS  (2008/7/25 11:25)

With recording completed on the audio adaptations of the Doctor Who stage plays, Big Finish can now announce details of all three casts. Each production will feature at least one member of the original cast from the theatre performances. We are delighted to be able to announce that Trevor Martin (pictured here), who took the role of the Doctor in the 1974 stage production of The Seven Keys to Doomsday , has returned to the role. As well as playing the Doctor on stage, Trevor had previously played one of the Time Lords presiding over the Doctor?s trial in the final episode of The War Games . He was also in the cast for The Paradise of Death , one of the two Radio 4 Doctor Who plays that starred Jon Pertwee as the Doctor. For Big Finish , Trevor previously guest-starred in Flip-Flop and was delighted to join us again and to be able to create a permanent record of his performance as the Doctor. Delays to Benny and Sapphire and Steel  from Big Finish News RSS  (2008/7/20 11:55)

Big Finish regretfully have to announce delays to two releases schedule for July. The final release in the third season of Sapphire and Steel audio dramas, Wall of Darkness will now be released in August. Similarly, the Bernice Summerfield audio adventure, The Adolescence of Time has also been postponed to August. This will have a knock-on effect of putting back the following two Benny plays by a month each. In both instances, these delays have been caused by extra time being required in the post-production for each play. Big Finish apologise for any annoyance caused. The cover and cast details for Wall of Darkness are now on the site. Also online is the cover for The Diet of Worms , the final release in the ninth season of Bernice Summerfield audio dramas.

In August, Big Finsh will be releasing a special box-set collection of the first four Eighth Doctor adventures to be broadcast on BBC7 . The nine disc set features re-presents the adventures: Storm Warning , Sword of Orion , The Stones of Venice and Invaders from Mars . Big Finish will open the curtains on Doctor Who?s theatrical past with audio adaptations of the three Doctor Who stage plays. Curse of the Daleks , a Doctor-less adventure was written by David Whitaker and Dalek creator, Terry Nation and was originally performed in London in 1965. The two subsequent stage plays were written by former Doctor Who script-editor, Terrance Dicks . 1974?s The Seven Keys to Doomsday starred Trevor Martin as a new incarnation of the Doctor and The Ultimate Adventure in 1989 initially starred Jon Pertwee and later Colin Baker . The Daleks were the Doctor?s opponents in both adventures. ? The Key 2 Time , a three-story mini series, is set for release between January and March 2009 as part of Big Finish?s main Doctor Who audio adventures range. Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor will be joined by new companion Amy , one of two sentient humanoid ?Tracers?, created to find the six segments of the Key. Ciara Janson ( Nicole Owen in Hollyoaks and voices the new animated Famous Five ) plays Amy, while the role of her twin sister Zara is portrayed by Laura Doddington , who was recently seen as PC Wood in Prime Suspect: The Final Act . The Key 2 Time, sees the Fifth Doctor on a new hunt for the six segments of the all powerful Key, but this time his task might not be quite as easy as it was the first time around? Dark Shadows returns to Big Finish with six new audio releases. The first two are already online for pre-order - Clothes of Sand and The Ghost Watcher and you can also subscribe a receive a discount on all six. These two new releases are the first in a new series for Big Finish's Dark Shadows CDs; each dramatic reading will feature two performers, with original music, sound effects and exciting dramatised segments. The Girl Who Never Was ? Voted Best Doctor Who Audio of 2007  from Big Finish News RSS  (2008/6/7 8:13)

Doctor Who: The Girl Who Never Was was voted the best audio adventure of 2007 by Doctor Who Magazine Readers recently. This story stars Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor and India Fisher as Charley Pollard, while co-starring in this emotional roller-coaster of a story is Danny Webb as Byron, Anna Massey as Miss Pollard and Amanda Root as Madeleine Fairweather. When told of the news India Fisher said ? I'm thrilled to hear that The Girl Who Never Was has been voted best audio for 2007. It was great fun to record and meant a great deal to me; the end of an era. ?.
